  1. I have Otto in my genealogy since one of his sons married a Junod cousin of mine. However, our data is not exactly the same :

You have Otto born in 1855 but in the US Census 1900 (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-6S97-FCS?i=1&cc=1325221&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AM3CY-PLW) he is declared as born July 1863 (and his wife Lizzie in June 1864).

You have him arrive in New York at two different dates : 15. October 1888 and 19. July 1895 : are you sure the two are the same „Otto Hallier“ ?

Based on the above census, „my“ Otto Hallier stated that he immigrated in 1895.

You have him married to Eliza Freitag (Friday) on 7 Nov 1891 in Leavenworth, yet mention that his first son Willi (William) was born in 1886 (whereas in the above census he is declared as born Jan 1884) then Ludwig in 1888 (a child I don’t have), Elise in 1894 (I have born Dec 1893) and Otto in 1895 (which I don’t have).

Otto and Elizabeth „Lizzie“ also had John Henry „Jack“ in Apr 1898 (see census) and August E. in 1901.

Both were adopted as their parents died by the time the older was 5.

    What do you think ?

  2. Otto Hallier and Elisabeth Freitag traveled to the USA in 1888. Not married as the ship manifest mentions her surname. It’s not clear if William and Ludwig are their, his or her children. There are no church or civil records of Dassow available online for 1878-1887, so there is no proof yet.
They went to Kansas City, married in Leavenworth in 1891. Got a child Ida in March 1892, moved back to Grevesmühlen, Mecklenburg. There Ida died in April 1893. After Elisabeth and Otto were born, they moved back to the USA in 1895.

The census says Elisabeth Freitag had 11 children. It’s fair to assume Ludwig is one of the at least 8 children who died until 1900, like Ida and Otto.

I have no idea about the birthdates of Otto Hallier and Elisabeth Freitag as 1863 and 1864 seem to be only mentioned in the 1900 census. Both ship manifests say 1855/1856.
